Visiting Hours

Some of the best medicine a patient can receive is a visitor. Whether they’re from family or friends, visits play an important role in patients’ mental state and can have a positive impact on patients’ recovery.

At the same time, patients are in the hospital because they need care and rest. Because patients need more rest than they would outside the Hospital and more than what friends and family members are accustomed to them needing, we’ve established specific hours and guidelines for visits to each hospital unit. Contact the Hospital at 540-862-6011 for specific visiting hours.

Patient care is our primary concern so in some instances, visitors may be asked to leave and return at different times. Additional information, including permission and special passes required for a family member to stay in the hospital after visiting hours or overnight, is available from the unit’s nurse.

Before You Visit

Before visiting, contact the Hospital to find out if the patient can have visitors, and if so, consider contacting the patient directly to determine if they are indeed ready for visitors. The patient might just appreciate a card, telephone call or a home visit more than an in-hospital visit.

  • Visitor Guidelines
  • Smoking is not allowed in patient rooms or anywhere in the hospital.
  • Shirts and shoes are required.
  • More than two visitors in the room at one time is discouraged.
  • People with a cold, sore throat, or any contagious diseases should not visit until they are well.
  • Keep visits short.
  • Maintain a quiet environment.
  • Visitors may have to leave the room during tests, treatment, or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.

Parking

Free patient and visitor parking are available in the Hospital lot 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients and visitors should pay particular attention to signs to ensure they are not parking in reserved or designated areas. Always lock your car, and if you ever need assistance with your vehicle, dial “0” from any nearby Hospital phone and ask the operator to connect you with a security officer.
